RESONATE
(Here's an old draft that I just spotted cluttering my blogger's files. Thought I would post it up, even though it is too little too late.)
RESONATE happened at Bullet’s in Nishi-Azabu last night. It was a bit overcast, but not exactly horrid weather for the 31st of October. Accordingly, things felt a little more Halloweeny than they could have, since to getting to the venue in the haze involves passing thru Japan's version of Sodom and Gomorrah (i.e. Roppongi). The pint-sized offspring of international economic giants were running rampant in and around the area of Roppongi Hills, garbed in costumes only slightly less terrifying than the monsters that their everyday clothes normally concealed.
Upon arrival, I was informed by Midori, who was waiting at the door for me in a smashing outfit, that due to the paucity of concertgoers, Glam Tool's opening performance was to be delayed about one hour. Oh pooh! After all, it was her new dynamic duo with the mysterious and 茄子-laden Jiji that had drawn me out of my Nakameguro hidey-hole in the first place. (No offense, Carl!) Despite the snafu, I nevertheless decided to make my entrance, now suddenly painfully early instead of fasionably late. As per the usual arrangement, I was admitted without charge under the well-worn pseudonym 'Fred', which had been penned lovingly into the guest list earlier that day.
Nursing the whiskey that fulfilled the useless space between my opposable digits, I had a slightly awkward conversation with Carl, who seemed to be in rare form. I was trying my best to convince him that he had recently collaborated with either HYPO, O.lamm, and/or Momus, and I would hear nothing to the contrary despite repeated and rather flat denials from the actual person in question. Our conversation thankfully ground to a hault in a cul-de-sac of cordial gestures and vagaries. I even recall having let slip my most odious parody of an American, telling the esteemed Mr. Stone to 'Knock it out of the park, kid!'
